Last Friday I set off from my office to tackle an epic 3.5hr drive up to the depths of Yorkshire to stay with Alex, and four other lovely ladies at a little holiday cottage next to Fountains Abbey, (near Ripon) for a few days of country walks, site-seeing, cake and crafting.
Despite my family's Yorkshire roots, I must admit that I've not seen very much of what the county has to offer. On Saturday, we spent the morning wandering around the grounds of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, which were rather beautiful. Obviously, when Alex and I came across a cave we needed to do some silly, cave-type poses.
Our afternoon was spent bargain-hunting our way through the Ripon charity shops, before discovering that there happened to be an open-air choir performance in the grounds of the abbey that evening. We wrapped up and went out after dinner to work off our teas, listen to the lovely music and then pose about in the shadowy darkness of the ruins before heading back to cosy up in front of the fire.
